Language Matters Teaching Initiative
The Language Matters Teaching Initiative provides resources and professional development workshops for secondary school language arts teachers. The workshops focus primarily on the challenges of Teaching Toni Morrison's works to high school students. The Language Matters Initiative was funded by the NEH for a year-long workshop in 2003 and multi-region workshops and summer institute in 2005. The Language Matters Initiative will continue to provide teaching workshops in language arts held biennially by the Society in conjunction with the Biennial Conference Series.
