The Toni Morrison Society’s Bench by the Road Project will be placing its 26th Bench on November 14th, 2019 in honor of Lincoln University. Founded in 1854 as Ashmun Institute, Lincoln University was the first degree-granting Historically Black College and University in the nation. Among its many distinguished administrators, faculty, and alumni, are the university’s first African-American president Horace Mann Bond, and graduates Thurgood Marshall, Langston Hughes, and Kwame Nkrumah.
Please join us on Thursday, November 14th at 12:30 pm at the International Cultural Center, Lincoln University, Oxford, Pennsylvania, to help us commemorate this outstanding African-American historic site of memory.
